The LD System - the fun and exciting new way to learn to drive

Allow me to introduce you to the unique Learner Driving tuition system (LD System), a system that has been cleverly designed for faster progress and ease of learning.

This is a system where every driving lesson is carefully planned, following a set programme with clearly defined objectives or 'targets' as we prefer to call them, and where your instructor uses modern training methods and professional training materials to ensure your training is both effective and fun.

Part 1 Driving Lessons - Basic control skills

These lessons give you the basic control skills so that you can drive safely. Most people start here and this is essential if you have no previous driving experience.

Control Skills
  • Getting moving
  • Gears
  • Steering
  • Co-ordination
  • The Emergency Stop

Part 2 Driving Lessons - Road skills

This part provides you with the driving skills that you will need in order to cope with modern roads.

Road Skills
  • Hazard drill & Junctions
  • Crossroads
  • Dealing with busier junctions
  • Roundabouts
  • Traffic signals & Pedestrian crossings

Part 3 Driving Lessons - Traffic Skills

In this part you learn the basic control and road skills so that you can cope with a wide range of traffic conditions and situations.

Traffic Skills
  • Hazard perception and defensive driving
  • Dual Carriageways
  • Town and city centre driving
  • Progressive driving
  • The driving test

Up to 25% more efficient than traditional driving lessons

Use LD's unique driving skills DVD video and workbook at home to prepare for a driving lesson in advance, and you will significantly cut down the amount of time that your instructor normally spends giving a lesson brief at the start of each new driving lesson. Normally a instructor can spend up to 20 minutes explaining about the driving lesson objectives, the road procedures you need to learn and the driving techniques you need to understand. All this needs to be done before you start driving. With the LD System all this can in fact be covered by yourself at home, beforehand, by watching the LDC driving skills DVDs and doing a simple quiz in the LDC driving skills workbook. Now all the instructor needs to do is check you have done your homework and off you go - a much more efficient approach.

The LD System was orginally designed for intensive training but it is just as useful for people taking weekly lessons. For intensive training to be effective each driving lesson has to be carefully structured, meticulously planned and expertly delivered - which is why the LD System was developed.

The benefits of the LD System are:

1. A comprehensive, structured training programme of driving lessons for you to follow

The LD System is the culmination of many years experience in successfully preparing people for the UK driving test.

Using the LD System will not only give you the best possible chance of passing your driving test first time, it also provides you with the skills for a lifetime of safe driving. Nothing has been left to chance.

Sadly, most driving schools in the UK do not provide a standard structured training programme - each driving instructor does his or her own thing, so it is very difficult for their pupils to know how long it will take, what to expect or where they are at any point in the training process. This simply cannot happen with the LD System, because you know exactly where you are in the programme at anytime. You know when you are ready to move onto the next driving lesson in the programme because you will know when the current driving lesson targets have been achieved. Each step is clearly defined. You know what you are trying to do and you know when you can do it. Your progress is recorded at the end of each lesson in your workbook for anyone to see.

2. An easy to follow progress monitoring system to keep you on track

Every step of your development is recorded in the driving skills workbook so that at any time you can see exactly what stage you are at and what remains to be covered. Parents particularly appreciate this feature as they can see precisely what is going on and, equally as important, what they are paying for.

3. Accelerated learning that is fun

By preparing for each driving lesson beforehand, using the driving skills videos and workbook, you will save a lot of time in the car on unnecessary explanations. On traditional driving lessons about 20 minutes per lesson is spent parked at the side of the road, listening to your instructor explain in detail what you need to do and how to do it. This doesn't happen with LDC instruction. You simply start the driving lesson with a short question and answer session covering only those aspects of your study that you were unsure about. This potentially represents a saving of approximately seven and a half hours over a traditional driving course of 30 hours duration.

Not only is the training far more effective because you get more actual practice time on each driving lesson, but also the practice you get is also far more productive because you are better prepared and focussed on specific learning targets. You will have already spent time learning about the driving techniques you need to apply and the road procedures you need to follow before you get in the car. Better still, you do this in the comfort of your own home, without any time pressures or worries about controlling a car at the same time. With this knowledge and understanding in place you just need to concentrate on putting it into practice when you are in the car for your lesson.

In addition, the training is far less stressful because you know what to expect. You have seen it before on video and practised it in your mind. You know you will not be pushed onto the next step until you have mastered the current one. Throwing people in at the deep end rarely works and only serves to make the learning process unpleasant and stressful. With LDC this won't happen. You will look forward to each lesson and find the experience most enjoyable. You will learn even more quickly because you enjoy the experience much more.

4. An aid to supplementary practice with a relative or friend

The workbook and videos can also be used by anyone who may be providing you with supplementary practice to ensure that any additional practice is totally complementary and not counter-productive to your learning.
